Teel potable water pipe is manufactured to AWWA, NSF 14, and NSF 61 standards. HDPE pipe is a durable drinking water solution providing leak-free joints, chemical and environmental resistance, and excellent flow characteristics. HDPE can offer overall cost savings compared to other materials, especially since its lighter weight can decrease shipping costs and its heat-fused joints reduce installation time and handling difficulty.
Features of HDPE Pipe NSF-certified to AWWA Standards
Durable, Flexible, and Light: HDPE pipe is more durable, longer lasting, and has a higher bend radius than other alternatives. Its lightweight flexibility makes it easier to install and allows it to form to an uneven pathway. It is also more suited to trenchless installation than alternatives.
Chemical Resistance: Resistant to chlorine- and chloramine-induced degradation. Teel’s pipe meets test and material standards ASTM F2263 and D3350 per AWWA requirements for resistance to chemical-induced oxidative stress and is CC3 rated.
Environmental Resistance: Resistant to damage from freezing, thawing, and other exposure. Teel’s HDPE pipe is made to handle temperatures from -40°F to 140°F and has passed the ASTM D1598 elevated-temperature sustained pressure test per AWWA requirements.
Surge Resistance: The flow characteristics of HDPE pipe offer excellent surge resistance, as well as the maintenance of higher flow rates to reduce surging in the first place. HDPE pipe can resist the stress of occasional surges up to double its pressure rating and more frequent surges up to 1.5 times its pressure rating while maintaining its integrity.
Leak-free Joints: Heat fusion of HDPE pipe creates joints that are completely sealed and leak proof that are at least as strong as the pipe itself.
